A mother is a gift from God. She did not choose us but God chose her for us. Everything about her was perfect in His eyes to raise us. Moms would tell you differently, she would say, "God picked you to be my child. " I would like to thank my mom for making me the woman I am today , neither of us are perfect but we are perfect in each other's eyes. It's a love that sees beyond flaws, a mother's love is eternal , it lives in you so you can pass it a long to your children. Thank God for our mother's they are a blessing from God. I love you mom!
Everything starts somewhere, there is a start and an end to a story, a book, a drive to a destination. All those things I mentioned also have a middle, the juicy part of a story or book, the stop lights and side roads to your destination. Every relationship starts with the first date, then the courtship, or now a days, it starts with social media and texting, or Snap Chat, Instagram even Facebook. I am pretty old school I met my husband the old fashion way, without social media. There are advantages to using social media, you can easily make friends, text them or send funny Snap Chats, but does it stay there? A lot of young people and even people my age have closed themselves from the world. Instead of seeing the world through their eyes, they see it through a virtual world. Going outside and smelling the roses, taking a walk, talking to someone in an actual social setting seems not to take precedence. Has your eye ever wondered in a restaurant and the couple next to you is looking at their phone and not even talking to each other. The little child in the other table has an iPad to entertain himself. I am not saying that these things are bad but it can hinder bonding with a person. It can take away the warmth of engaging in a conversation with someone. Talking to a 5 year old about how their day went at school is too much trouble for you so you brush them off and say here watch TV or play on the iPad or tablet. All this made me think of Jesus and His disciples.
He was gathering them by speaking to them, engaging with them, eating with them and respecting them. Jesus really enjoyed a gathering. People followed Him not because He was good looking on the other hand it says in Isaiah 53:2, " that He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to Him." He was just a likable man that had good things to tell. He talked to the outcast, the lepers the prostitutes and the lonely, like the woman with the issue of blood. Now we tend outcast the outcast, what is beautiful is more important than the lowly at heart. I have seen women my age, mothers and daughters exposing themselves just for likes on their pictures in Instagram or in other social sites. I believe we should give a lot of thought about what we post , ask yourself a few questions before you post anything such as, " Is this going to benefit someone, or is it going to belittle someone? Is this something that is pure, noble, or true? Think before you post and use social media wisely, remember Jesus has more followers for being pure at heart, we should model ourselves as Him. Let's try to talk to someone today.
If you read a couple of blogs back , I thought this nest was abandoned, I was obviously wrong. It was disturbing to me because It caused me to worry about the birds! I was so upset thinking they will not survive! I was filled with questions, do I move the nest or leave it there, why did the sparrow come back? It was so overwhelming!! Then I was lead to read Oswald Chambers quote :
"The whole point of getting things done is knowing what to leave undone."
I'm am going to leave it alone, leave it to God. He cares for the sparrows and I just don't need to worry about things that are beyond my control! That helps me focus on what really needs to get done!
I am not much of a gardener, I purchase plants and flowers read the instructions and I end up killing them. It could be either too much water or too little. It can also be that I planted them where the sunlight was not enough. Thinking about Gardens , the Garden of Gethsemane, where the Son of man was left all alone by His disciples, He asked them to stay awake and pray with Him but they stayed asleep. The Son of God was left to pray by Himself with such agony that His sweat consisted of blood with no one there to comfort Him. Just like the disciples , we pass by the lowly everyday and ignore them, our colleagues at work we don't really talk to or the neighbor that you don't even know their name. Just as a plant grows by caring for it , cultivating the soil , giving it enough sunlight and water, we should do the same for people. If the disciples left Jesus all alone, we are capable of the same with others. Today as we reflect on Good Friday, a day to remember the pain and anguish that Jesus suffered for us. The one true Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world. Let us see the reason we were planted in this Garden, is to tell others about the one who quenches their thirst and brightens their life with the Son.

Do you have a tough time creating a vignette? It really can be difficult to do, especially if you don't have a focus or idea of what you want to arrange . The vignette I'm talking about is a display of small or large decorative pieces arranged together that is pleasing to the eye. I'm going to help you create one, there are many methods to use but let's just begin with one that is pretty easy. So today's lesson is with the letter A , ok I had to do say that, growing up watching Sesame Street really made an impact on me. On a serious note, visualize your vignette as the capital letter A, find a piece that will anchor the focal point by that piece being the tallest such as my lantern in the picture, then gather smaller items around it to form the A design. Remember, it is important to also gather pieces that will compliment each other.
You have to focus on your goal, don't let other things distract you. In the end you will have the prize of a beautiful vignette. Now you try it!!
I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Today is the first Monday of Spring and when I woke up I opened all the blinds and let the sunlight in and made everything bright and cheery. I have been enjoying the sweet melodious songs of birds chirping and singing , I can't help but hum along with them. Speaking of birds, I've encountered these little Sparrows everytime I've opened my front door. The other morning I was startled by one little sparrow who flew by my head so closely I could feel the flutter of it's wings. I'm glad my neighbors didn't hear me yell!! This morning I wanted to clean my front door and saw my wreath had some the soft down of feathers on it, as I went to pull It I saw a little nest, as I took a closer look inside I realized the nest was empty. It stirred inside me feelings of happiness and joy all at once. I love little birds and collect little bird figurines because they remind me of how God takes care of them. I thought to myself, poor little birds they must of moved away since it was not a stable place for them. I'm sure God in his infinite wisdom guided them to the perfect little place so the mama could lay her little eggs peacefully. I wondered why God would allow them to build their nest there. He led me to see, that sometimes we build and put our heart in our work or job , when He really wants us somewhere else and He has to get our attention by the daily interruptions or that still small voice that we refuse to hear. God takes you to a new beginning, forgetting the old, don't look back , He is preparing a new place. Just like in the resurrection , the tomb is empty , something has to die to bring it to a new beginning.
The Empty Tomb
20 Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb. 2 Then she ran and came to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him.”
I can't believe today is the first day of Spring! It seems the sands of time are forever trickling away, that's why we should write our vision for our life. We can't just live and let life happen, we have to put life into our lives. If there is no happiness in what you do , you loose your purpose. Don't think that for one moment you are too old to make your vision come true, if you write down your vision and see it on paper it will certainly help you visualize yourself living your heart's desire. So this Spring make a to do lists of your dreams and visions, throw out old thoughts and renew them with new ideas! Ask yourself what do you really want to do with your life and Spring into action! Pray about it and God will help you in your new path. We are the Lily's among the thorns. Now go and do it!!
Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.
Where there is no vision, the people perish; but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
2 And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
Sometimes big problems turn out to be small when you look at the big picture. When something in my life arises that seems to be devastating, I take a real look and see if it could be a big blessing in disguise. Have you been in that situation? What I have learned from being in all these trails is that you count your blessings. The job that you were terminated for unjustly, God had a better job for you in mind. The major car accident my hubby encountered with two semi-trailers occurred where an abandoned car was placed in a spot that stopped my husband's car from rolling over, the off duty officer behind him that saw the whole thing and stayed with him. The emergency ambulance that was near by that took my husband to the hospital. All things happened at the right moment , not that there was a right moment to be hit by a semi-truck but that God positioned everyone to come to his aide. You see no matter what, bad things will happen, but it is your perspective of those situations that make the difference. I am not saying it was easy but I did see it through faith and lots of prayers. The big problem was a big blessing instead my husband ministered to others. It also helped me help other's in same situations. We don't have to waste our trails and throw fits about them and swing punches at God and blame Him ask God what He wants you learn from them , you will see the big blessing in disguise in the end.
1 Peter 4:12 Glory Just Around the Corner12-13 Friends, when life gets really difficult, don’t jump to the conclusion that God isn’t on the job. Instead, be glad that you are in the very thick of what Christ experienced. This is a spiritual refining process, with glory just around the corner.
Some of you might not know this but I am a super duper Walking Dead fan. I wanted to write a little about the last episode, "No Way Out", which was the best episode yet. Now, lets get down to the nitty-gritty of this intriguing episode.
There was no way out of Alexandria, their sanctuary. The zombie apocalypse was coming in full force. The homes are beautiful with grand kitchens, a model home community complete with fancy furniture and decor. Definitely a contrast from the chaos outside the walls of Alexandria. (I won't go into into all the details about the episode because I do not want to spoil it for you. Watch if you dare!) Basically, the survivors got too comfortable.
One of the characters, Enid, read the verse on the church wall, "Faith Without Works is Dead. James 2:26.' Once she read that something just clicked in her. Her outlook changed. She really put her faith to work by turning that faith into action. You see we all may have faith but what are you doing with that faith? Not only do you have to believe but you have to have the courage to strive for what you believe in. I love writing but never have done it in a public format. That's why I started this blog. I might have only an audience of one, but that is okay. Writing makes me happy.
Is there something that has been lingering in your mind that you say, "If only if I had time. Maybe when I quit my job I'll do it, or I'll do it in a few years". Don't procrastinate any longer. Have faith and get to work. The only person stopping you is yourself.
It all started by asking myself, "Why do I love vintage items so much?" It was then that the phrase, "The Good Ol' Days'" came to my mind. I thought well , it reminds me of the good ol days. So I googled the phrase, and apparently it started in the weekend of June 19th,1948. Now I do not know if that is true or not. Apparently, there was perfect weather and people would say hello, and how do you do to each other. No hard work went unrewarded and people had hope for the future. I thought it was a bit comedic that the so called, "Good Ol' Days was narrowed down to one weekend in 1948.
But I do love vintage items, and it's because it reminds me of my childhood. I can relate with them and maybe as a child I would say, "When I grow up I'm going to have that at my house.I grew up watching, "I Love Lucy, so I love the clothing of the period and the furniture and kitchenware. I loved watching, "The Brady Bunch'" and so I love the 70's and their quirky kitchenware as well. I can truly relate to the fashion, I wore such funny clothing. Well what about the 80's I can so relate to dressing like , "Madonna."
No matter the era, no matter the year, if you can go back in time, someone will be caught saying, "There's nothing like the Good Ol' Days. So then I, coming back to this day in 2016, and I can say, " I love the,"Good Ol' Days!" I bring a little piece of them to my home when I go thrifting. So that makes my today a "Good Ol' Day."
Be content where you find yourself let today be a good day. No matter what, there is always something to make you smile, I love this scripture in Philipains 4:13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength. Now back to my, "Good Ol' Day.
